The Importance of Being Me

October 23, 2022 @ 1:00 pm

The Importance of Being Me

As a complement to the main stage show, TCT proudly presents The Importance of Being Me,
a one day only event on Sunday, October 23rd at 1pm that includes a reception,
visual art exhibit, and live performances of poetry, short plays, and songs created by LGBTQ+ youth from around the country.

This event marks the culmination of a nationwide initiative that TCT began in July. Thirty youth from 13 states including Florida
have participated in this program, which has included virtual workshops, one-on-one coaching sessions, and rehearsals to support
the youth in creating self-affirming art inspired by Wilde’s legacy.

The Importance of Being Me was made possible thanks to the support of numerous South Florida organizations committed to serving
the LGBTQ+ community, including fiscal sponsors Our Fund Foundation, Broward Sheriff’s Office, MAD Arts, and World AIDS Museum and
community partners Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida, The Pride Center at Equality Park, Thou Art Woman, Transinclusive Group, and TransSocial Inc.

The visual art exhibit will be on display throughout the run of The Importance of Being Oscar; however, the live performance and
reception will take place only on Sunday, October 23rd.
