The Importance of Being Oscar by Michael Mac Liammoir

October 14, 2022 @ 8:00 pm

The Importance of Being Oscar by Michael Mac Liammoir.
This award-winning play, originally conceived as a one-person show in the1960s,
is a dazzling tapestry woven from Wilde’s diaries, letters, plays, fiction, and poetry.
In TCT’s vibrant revival, three actors will channel Oscar and a host of other characters
to explore how Wilde’s legacy resonates in today’s much more diverse gender and sexually diverse landscape.

“TCT thrives on experimentation and inclusivity, in terms of the plays we select and
how we rehearse and stage them. We cast carefully, challenge conventions, and embrace
playfulness and innovation. This is how we do our part to celebrate diversity and keep
the art form evolving in spite of both enduring gender and genre bias in the profession”
says Stodard.

At The Importance of Being Oscar, audiences can expect a thoughtful, thought-provoking, highly entertaining romp
through Wilde’s life and work. TCT’s Artistic Director Nicole Stodard will direct a cast that includes
Ronnie Larsen, Bree-Anna Obst, and Travon Pierre. TCT’s resident scenic designer Alyiece Moretto-Watkins (set) and
Matthew Griffin (lighting) will join Stodard (costume, co-sound/projection) and Obst (co-sound/projection) to form the design team.
