Explore an immersive 3D projection mapping experience that delves into the creative approach of legendary artist and graphic designer David Carson. This installation invites the audience to glimpse into Carson's mind and explore his past, current, and future work, along with design experiments that highlight his creative process. David Carson is a true genius in every sense of the word — his knowledge of all things conceptual, artistic, and creative is unsurpassed, while his personality is irreverent, often controversial, and hard to forget.
This brilliant force of nature has left quite an impact on the team at Mad. In late 2021, Mad Arts hosted the largest and first comprehensive look at Carson’s groundbreaking and internationally acclaimed work, including his iconic magazine design, advertising and branding work, and original artwork on exhibition. Then, a planned 2-week projection-mapping installation for IGNITE, Broward’s art & light festival, quickly grew into a 9-month creative collaboration that was equal parts enlightening, chaotic, and memorable for all involved. This latest tribute is both a heartfelt thank you and a cheeky nod to his strong-willed spirit. Those with the privilege and patience of knowing Carson will appreciate this sentiment.
David Carson is a renowned graphic designer and contemporary artist whose unconventional style revolutionized the American graphic design scene during the 1990s. Dubbed “one of America’s most important artists” by Smithsonian magazine and the “world’s most famous graphic designer” by China’s Casa International magazine, Carson is a legend in the industry who has designed worldwide branding campaigns for Microsoft and Giorgio Armani (Milan) and maintains an extensive list of international clients, including Toyota, Mercedes-Benz, Bush, Pepsi, Xerox, and David Byrne. He still lectures frequently around the world and is the first graphic designer to have a MasterClass.
