Canvas Cooler 2025

10 artists are given the challenge of transforming a blank canvas-wrapped Red Bull cooler into an inspired work of art.

Escaping the Void

by:
Mateo SeZa
About the Exhibit:

Escaping the Void explores the internal struggle between comfort and growth. The work reflects how habits, indulgences, and distractions can trap us in a cycle that limits our potential. The piece highlights the tension of pulling away from what holds us back and taking the first steps toward self-improvement. It’s a reminder that leaving the void requires persistence, clarity, and courage.

About the artist:

Mateo SeZa is a Colombian-born, Miami-raised lens-based artist whose work explores geometry, light, and human experience through photography, sculpture, and interdisciplinary collaborations. He has exhibited at institutions across South Florida, including MOCA, the Norton Museum of Art, the Bakehouse Art Complex, and the Deering Estate, where he created MAYAIMI, a project honoring the Tequesta People through photography, sound, and performance.

His ongoing series Quiet Noise and related works reflect on urban development and the relationship between the human body and built environments. Drawing inspiration from jazz and movement, SeZa captures what he calls “the dance between light and geometry.”
