BLUR - an immersive XR theatre experience

“WHAT IF WE COULD DEFEAT DEATH?”

— Craig Quintero & Phoebe Greenberg, co-directors

The future is present. Step into the unknown.

Experience BLUR, where new technology meets the limits of love & loss.

In a near future where the science of cloning challenges the finality of death, BLUR immerses audiences in a world that blurs the boundaries between real and virtual, fear and desire, living and lost, fact and fiction.

Through an immersive XR theatre experience, co-directors Craig Quintero & Phoebe Greenberg invite groups of ten to explore topics like ethics, identity, and grief. Guided through surreal landscapes, audiences confront the beauty—and the unease—of a future where resurrection is possible.

BLUR began as a question, one that lies at the heart of mythology, science, and human longing—What if we could defeat death? As scientific advancements like cloning and resurrection biology become real, they challenge not only our relationship to death but also our understanding of what it means to be human.

Empowered by innovative motion capture and augmented reality, actors' raw emotions seamlessly weave into the experience, offering a haunting exploration of love, loss, and the perilous implications of “playing God.” Iconic figures like Dolly, a human-animal hybrid, embody the triumphs and ambiguities of science and genetic engineering.

Inspired by Theatre of the Absurd, populated by hybrid creatures and AI entities, BLUR is a dreamlike experience where the narrative unfolds across formats—and across realities. It’s more than a performance; it is an unforgettable journey that pushes the boundaries of storytelling and theatrical experience. It leaves the audience wondering: Can science heal a broken heart, or will it unravel what makes us truly human?
