Take a deep breath and plunge into Leviathan’s Lair, an underwater projection-mapping experience that welcomes you to a realm of otherworldly beauty. Enveloped in waves of sound, get lost in the depths of the boundless sea as time slows, light fades, and you connect completely to your mind, body, and spirit.

A collaboration between MadLabs, MAD Arts, and Miami City Ballet, this exhibition was created to support A Midsummer Night’s Dream — Miami City Ballet’s magical retelling that brings South Florida’s ecosystem to life on stage. While remaining faithful to George Balanchine’s choreography, this production was uniquely reimagined for South Florida audiences. Featuring Miami artist Michele Oka Doner’s set and costume designs, the ballet’s traditional woodland setting was transformed into a vibrant, underwater seascape. Leviathan’s Lair celebrates the region’s unique beauty, with its captivating coral reefs, lush seagrasses, and diverse marine life.
